Many people share interests and ideas and form friendships using social networking applications such as FaceBook, MySpace, MXit and YouTube. A team of Computer Applications Technology (CAT) learners has been asked to provide information about the advantages, disadvantages and requirements of these applications.
The learners must submit the following to the school governing body:
• A brochure outlining the advantages and disadvantages of social networking technologies
• A question-and-answer leaflet based on the questions submitted by parents
The learners will work at home on the project, but will all get together to produce and print the final copies in the computer centre at school.
Parents have been invited to submit specific questions/concerns to be addressed by the team. Respond to the following comments and questions received from parents:
3.1 Concern #1: "Are there any advantages for my child when using MXit?"
